Inspired by the restorative qualities of the town’s historic spa buildings, the interior balances solidity and softness, drawing customers through a sequence of fluid, interconnected spaces that feel both contemporary and timeless. The concept design particularly focused on scale and movement through an awkwardly shaped site.

The store is organised as a series of carefully framed rooms where fixtures, fittings and partitions are conceived as solid, carved elements. These interventions establish a strong architectural rhythm throughout the space, allowing the customer journey to unfold more deliberately and at a gentler pace. Moments of openness are balanced with areas of intimacy, encouraging discovery and creating a more considered retail experience. The resulting concept translates the character of Harrogate into a refined retail setting that reflects ME+EM’s strong brand identity.
